Sweda is a provider of in-store Point of Sale solutions and other supporting applications and services to supermarkets and quick service. SwedaMart™ is open-source Linux based POS solution with a rich transaction set that supports modern hardware, software, operating systems and network infrastructures to deliver real-time interactive customer order transaction processing. 

SwedaMart's architecture is completely open and ideally supports IBM's SIF/SOA infrastructure to deliver integrated real-time POS transaction capability with other enterprise and 3rd party retail solutions. The architecture is scaleable and flexible to meet the retailer's needs for POS transaction processing based on each retailers unique business structure, enterprise IT capability and existing hardware and software components and infrastructure. 

The POS lane is a Linux based POS terminal that can fat or thin depending the retailer's vision for redundant POS systems operation. The back office system operates on a Linux server that is sized for each clients needs and provides complete file services or offers data repository services for lanes depending on configuration. The configuration is sufficiently flexible to provide the POS and server on a lane for additional redundancy where required. 

The SIF/SOA environment helps the retailer manage the various deployed SwedaMart transaction modules via Tivoli's Process Management Products. Further database capability is added via SwedaMart's integration and use of DB2 directly on the POS lane and/or server depending on configuration. Real-time transaction messaging to and from SwedaMart to enterprise and 3rd party best of breed applications is provided by WebSphere Remote Server and MQ. This enables SwedaMart to deliver next-generation POS capability with unlimited transaction processing potential. First on a long list of next-generation transaction processing enhancement is an ability to deliver an industry-best rich multimedia interactive customer shopping experience that extends the traditional POSale capability into a POService and POMarketing functionality that helps the retailer differentiate their business over other competitors with limited legacy POS systems promotional capability.

Further promotional capability is supplied by a second SIF/SOA enabled Sweda application called SwedaMedia. SwedaMedia is retail focused application that provides a centralized capability to produce, integrate, distribute and manage multimedia content to digital signs, menu-boards, kiosks and SwedaMart's POS customer and cashier touch screen GUI's. The IBM SIF/SOA environment provides a homogeneous promotional store environment that synergizes ad campaigns and retailer branding to create a total shopping experience - no matter where the customer touches the enterprise purchase products and services.

SwedaMart is also integrated to IBM Tivoli Monitoring (ITM).   Sweda's IBM Tivoli Monitoring agent allows IBM customers who have Tivoli Monitoring in their enterprise to monitor the SwedaMart application.   Some of the attributes you can monitor include
